Learning to drive in Lee-on-the-Solent

Complete beginners usually start in the calmer roads around the town centre and Stubbington, where there is space to build clutch control, steering and observation before moving onto busier routes. Roads and junctions we cover

You will practise the junctions Lee-on-the-Solent drivers use every day, including the seafront approach, the roundabouts connecting to Gosport and Fareham, and the busier sections of the A32 towards Portsmouth. We also cover the A27 corridor, which links the town to Locks Heath, Park Gate and Segensworth.

Once you are confident in town, lessons extend to the rural lanes around Titchfield, Warsash and the Meon Valley. National speed limit roads, blind bends, narrow lanes and oncoming traffic are all part of driving in this part of Hampshire, and examiners expect you to handle them calmly.

Driving test centre options for Lee-on-the-Solent

Lee-on-the-Solent does not have its own DVSA practical test centre. Most of our learners test at Fareham on Newgate Lane, roughly fifteen minutes away, where routes cover Fareham town centre, Segensworth, Park Gate and rural sections towards Wickham and Titchfield.

Some learners choose Portsmouth (Paulsgrove) depending on waiting times. We can teach the routes for either centre and provide the same dual-control car for your test, so you arrive familiar with both the vehicle and the area.

Test-day car hire and support

Training in the same car you test in makes a real difference. Our test-day package includes a warm-up lesson immediately before your test, use of the fully insured dual-control car for the practical, and a calm debrief afterwards.

We also run a full mock test under exam conditions in the weeks before your date, using the same routes and manoeuvres bays you are likely to see on the day. This is where most learners turn nerves into confidence.

Manual and automatic lessons

We teach both manual and automatic driving lessons in Lee-on-the-Solent. Manual tuition gives you a full UK licence that covers any car, and is ideal if you expect to drive a family car, van or hire car abroad. Automatic lessons let you focus on road position, observation and decision making without the clutch, which suits many nervous learners and returners.
