Driving Test in Southampton
Southampton has one main driving test centre: Maybush Driving Test Centre on Green Lane.
At Sensei Driving School, we provide local driving lessons and test preparation around the Maybush area, helping learners become familiar with the roads and typical challenges they may face on test day.
Maybush Driving Test Centre
Green Lane, Southampton
Maybush test routes can cover areas including Redbridge, Millbrook, Shirley, Lordshill, Aldermoor and Rownhams.
Routes can include busy roundabouts, multi-lane roads and a mixture of 30, 40 and 60 mph roads. Good observation, lane discipline and speed control are particularly important.
What Happens on the Practical Test?
The practical driving test lasts around 40 minutes and includes:
- An eyesight check
- Vehicle safety questions
- General driving
- One manoeuvre
- Around 20 minutes of independent driving
- An emergency stop if selected
You can make up to 15 driving faults and still pass, but a serious or dangerous fault will result in a fail.
